PROGRAM OVERVIEW

TYUST (Taiyuan University of Science and Technology, Shanxi, China) and BUCEA (Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Beijing, China) will host a group of selected AU undergraduate engineering students for a total of three weeks as a part of ongoing student/faculty exchange program between AU and these two partner schools. The students will carry out a series of academic and cultural exchange activities, including 1) participate in ongoing research projects in respective research groups at TYUST and BUCEA; 2) take a series of short courses and seminars in respective engineering specialty areas, Chinese engineering practices, basic Chinese language and Chinese culture/history; 3) visit several major engineering plants/factories in Taiyuan and Beijing, and 4) visit some major cultural relics in Shanxi province and Beijing.

ELIGIBILITY

Maximum 10 students. One to two students from each of the following Engineering programs: CE, CHE, ECE, ME, MATL, CSSE, and BSEN. Each program can recommend one to two students with their resumes to Don Zhao (the faculty coordinator), who will then finalize the list of students.

LOCATION

Beijing and Shanxi, China

PASSPORT AND VISA REQUIREMENTS

If you do not have a PASSPORT: Please check www.travel.state.gov for the nearest local passport office and forms. Application for a United States passport should be made at least 120 days in advance of your departure date. Auburn Abroad recommends that you apply for a passport as soon as you know you are participating in the program. If you already have a passport: Please check the expiration date. Passports should be valid for at least 6 months following your scheduled time abroad.

VISA REGULATION:

• U.S. Citizens will need a visa to enter China (Students will work with Auburn Abroad to complete visa requirements)
• Non-U.S. Citizens will need to verify visa requirements
