Program Description:


AU CADC - Exchange Program
at Unitec in New Zealand


Exchange program with School of Architecture at UNITEC Institute of Technology in New Zealand


Public transportation and ADA accessible sidewalks are not common. Participants should be able to travel and live independently, navigate bus and train transportation, extensive walking, and stairs.


Eligibility is limited to students in the School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture. Participants must complete separate application to UNITEC, and acquire a student visa. Details are available online at


UNITEC academic year runs February-November

  • Term 1 - 2020: 24 February through 28 June

  • Term 2 - 2020: Approximately 20 July through 22 November


Auburn course equivalents will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Interested students should review their plan of study with their CADC academic advisor and department to determine the courses needed for the desired exchange semester. AU administrators will correspond with UNITEC to determine availability of equivalent courses.

  • AU Students pay tuition (based on 12 credit hours residency status) and professional fees to AU & do not pay tuition at partner school.

  • Auburn students will also pay for the International Emergency Travel Self Insurance for the duration of their program abroad.

  • AU students are responsible for airfare and all living expenses in host country.

  • Some service fees from host school may apply to the exchange term.

If you do not have a PASSPORT: Please check for the nearest local passport office and forms. Application for a United States passport should be made at least 120 days in advance of your departure date. Auburn Abroad recommends that you apply for a passport as soon as you know you are participating in the program. If you already have a passport: Please check the expiration date. Passports should be valid for at least 6 months following your scheduled time abroad.
