CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS PhotoContest.SouthAfrica

Auburn Abroad: Being a part of Auburn Family is a vital part of life as a student at Auburn! Show us that you represented Auburn while on your program by submitting a picture of you at your study abroad destination (or excursion locations) with an Auburn flag, shirt, or other apparel. We can’t wait to see your Auburn pride taken worldwide. War Eagle!

Food: One of the best parts about studying abroad is all of the amazing cuisine you get to try! This category is all about food, so submit your favorite photos of the delicious dishes you sampled while on your program. Anything from street food to fine-dining is welcome. We are interested in cuisines from all over the world, so the more exotic, the better! Let’s Eat! *submissions contacting alcoholic beverages will be automatically disqualified*

Places and Landscapes: Breathtaking landscapes, beautiful architecture, and sites of inspiration make up this category! Submit your best photos focusing on any foreign place that made an impact on you during your time abroad. The best entries will be those which avoid cliché landmarks and instead show a new side of the world. We want to see your own unique discoveries off the beaten path! Show us all of the amazing sights you ventured to while on your study abroad program.

Culture: This category is meant to be an opportunity for you to showcase how you immersed yourself into the culture of each place you visited. We want to see how you experienced new, unfamiliar, and fascinating cultures wholly different from our own. This category is meant to showcase those singular moments and events that are truly unique to each culture around the world. Maybe you participated in Bastille Day in France or had the opportunity to attend Carnival in Venice, or anything else! We want to see your photos of what makes this place in the world unique.

People/Animals: People and animals around the world are a fascinating part of studying abroad in a foreign setting. We want you to play the role of anthropologist with this category and submit your best shots of people and animals in their everyday, natural lives! If you witnessed something truly striking and have an amazing photo of it, then this is the perfect category. Keep in mind that these are living subjects in these shots, and be respectful when choosing which photos to submit. We can’t wait to see the world through your lens!
