Program Description:
Art in Rome, Italy

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Art in Rome is a collaboration between the Auburn University Department of Art & Art History and the University of Arkansas Rome Center, which also hosts several other American universities. This partnership proves beneficial to our students, offering them a chance to meet students from other universities and to control the cost of the program.

Students will earn six credit hours while producing artwork and studying the art and architecture in Rome on location. Coursework focuses on both hands-on art-making, as well as experiencing and learning about Italian culture and history.

The UARK Rome Center building Palazzo Taverna is located in a very center of town, near Piazza Navona (Centro Storico). Auburn students will have access (via swipe cards) to the Center’s art/design studios, lecture halls, computer lab, and library. Additionally, the Center’s administrative staff will provide necessary assistance to our students.

Included in this year’s program are two day-trips to Orvieto, and the Villa Estes in Tivoli, a two-day/night stay in Venice, and one overnight stay in Florence. Previous knowledge of the Italian language is not necessary, and the program offers 16 hours of beginning Italian language instruction.
